Does anyone know the current situation with regard to obtaining POW cards from TNA please.

    Hi,

I obtained my fathers POW Index Card from TNA 2 or 3 years ago.

I followed advice from a forum member and submitted a Freedom of Information Act request - having identified the TNA Index reference for my fathers surname - and obtained his Card within 3 weeks. To be fair it didn't tell me anymore than I had gleaned from his Liberation Questionnaire and his ICRC records but it was good to have "the full set".

Sorry but can't remember the name of the forum member who gave me the advice and the link to TNA FOI request form online.

    Good Luck

    PS

Here is the link to ICRC but it appears you will have to wait until 1st October until you can make a request.

Requests for information about people held during the Spanish Civil War or the Second World War: Quarterly limit reached

    PPS

The link won't open for me but it is the one I refer to in my post.

Thanks for that Tullybrone. I had already made a note of the next date for the RX. Some years back I received my uncle's card which gave information of his wages earned and a stay in hospital but not much else. This is for someone else and I thought it might give a bit of info whilst waiting for his records.
