Projectile identification

    Could someone identify this, I found it in the woods beside the quoile river near downpatrick northern ireland. Apparently they tested the use of bailey bridges on the quoile river during the war at this location and I suspect this is something to do with it. Looks either like a line throwing projectile or a very small propeller, it has a red colouration on one of the flights.

    Looks like the tail-end of a 2" mortar bomb

    These can be found on night exercise areas from illumination rounds - the lightweight steel case rusts away leaving the aluminium alloy. These don't seem to have been treated as 'rounds' requiring range disciplines and recovery. Looks like wartime production by the shape.
