I definately won't forget that, I am going to try and find a photo then come back to the missing men file.
    Thank you

There must be something out there Faye, it's just a matter of finding it and tagging posts on a forum such as this one is a good step. My Grandfather joined the Northamptonshire Regiment around the same time and his photo appears a number of times on the Northampton Museum's pages...but never named. We had a few of the photos in the family so were able to tie them in...these images were produced in multiples and someone out there will have named copies ! Keep searching !

Rich thank you so much for the positivity. The search for James can feel so overwhelming but I will continue for my Grandad.
That is a great story about your Grandfather and gives me hope.
Would you or anyone else happen to know if D coy would have had their own individual war diary? I have the middlesex 2nd Battalion diary, but thought maybe their could be others?
Also does anyone have any knowledge or could point me in the right direction for Middlesex 2nd serving in India pre war, specifically 1926-1931? As I don't even know where to start with that.

Faye, for some reason the 1st get a lot more of a write up than the 2nd in the Regimental History (not sure why that was). It may be wise to get in contact with Middlesex Regiment Museum if there is one ( Andy has mentioned that). You may have already tried that avenue. I've attached the only two pages from the period you are after. I cant think of anything else that will help you out.

    Regards
