I recently found this newspaper account about my father's first cousin James McIntosh 5th Bn. Black Watch. I was fortunate to meet this gentleman when he visited Shetland to see my dad. I knew nothing about his war service until I found this article yesterday.

The Shetland Times, Friday, June 30, 1944.

    WOUNDED IN NORMANDY

Wounded by shrapnel on the beaches of Normandy in the early days of the invasion, Private James McIntosh, Black Watch, has not been evacuated to England. This is the second time he has been wounded in the war; his first wound being received in North Africa during the drive to Tunis. He is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs James McIntosh, Christie's Lane, Montrose, and grandson of Mrs Henderson and nephew of Mrs T. Shewan, 4 Garthspool Docks, Lerwick. His youngest brother is in the Royal Artillery is at present serving in Italy.

I have attached his British Army Casualty Lists for both Normandy (date not reported but around 11 June 1944 and Tunisia (date not reported but around March 1943). Both his Casualty Listings have a number noted in pen against his name. What does this signify?

I would be interested in seeing War Diaries for 5th Battalion Black Watch for March 1943 and June 1944.

Any help would be much appreciated.
