I am struggling with this part of his postings card. He was in the 5th Battalion East Yorkshire. On 19th May 1944 he was posted via X List (Fit for duty) to No.46 Reinforcement Holding Unit. I am not sure where these were based or ended up. On 8th June 1944 he was posted to No.2 I.D. Does anyone know what I.D. stands for?

I'll open the bidding with 'Infantry Depot'?

Following on from your suggestion - I was also wondering about Infantry Division?

    Where did he go next?

It's a long way to India in May - June 1944! Is that long enough to get there?

    Regards

upload_2025-1-18_20-51-27.png He gets posted to A.S.C. on 30th June 1944, then R.A.O.C. mobile centre on 9th August 1944, and what I presume to be the I.CSS (No.I Combat Support Service?) 30th August 1944. Would there have been enough time to end up in India? He is also being reassessed by the Army for next Trade etc on 1st July 1944. I doubt he went to India,

Not sure what I CSS is but it's not Indian casualty clearing station, that would be 1CCS surely?

I mistyped it and have now corrected it. It was 1C:SS OR 1CSS
