Quote from above "Bennington was a lovely man,he knew us all by name from AB to PO"

I assume this to be Able seaman (AB) to Petty Officer (PO)

    Hello everyone,

I stumbled across this forum while doing some reading about my Grandfather's service during the war. He was the Lt Cmdr LWA Bennington mentioned in the posts by 281664. I never knew my Granddad. Sadly he passed away not long after I was born, but I've been lucky enough to get to know the man he was, and his service in the war, through the mass of archive material, commentary, documents and other materials that are available online. It's a great thing that all these veteran's legacies can live on in this way, and it's quite humbling to read testimony like that of 281664's father's. Reading words like these lead me to reflect on my own life, my character and values, and the importance of trying to have a positive impact on people around me, whatever the context or circumstances.

I'm not sure if people on this thread will pick my post up given it's been 4 months, but just wanted to relay my thanks to you all.
