BRITAIN QUEUES FOR FOOD: RATIONING AND FOOD SHORTAGES IN WARTIME, LONDON, ENGLAND, UK, 1945

Housewives queue outside baker and confectioner 'Williamson's' on High Road, Wood Green. The original caption states that "there is plenty of bread in the shop, but the housewives are queuing for cake. You must have something for tea when the old man comes home from work and the cakes are snapped up directly they are put in the window".

Women and children queue past several shops to buy goods from 'Patsy' the greengrocer, on a shopping street, somewhere in London. Also clearly visible are the 'Victoria Wine Co. Ltd.' and 'Stevens and Steed'. Outside the latter, in the bottom right hand corner of the photograph, are two bicycles with a sign reading 'Gunther Jolly Good Butcher'.
