My first time on this forum so I hope your reputations come up to scratch. I'm sure it will.
I Have the attestation as attached for Edward Blease 175246, can someone please decipher the various notations on his entry, I assume "Disch age limit" is discharge due to being too old? The chap concerned was born in 1909, enlisted 1940, not exactly methusela!
    Many thanks Bern

    Hi Bern,

The ZT date of 25/3/46 indicates the date he was Conditionally Discharged from Army service and transferred to the so-called "Z lis"t, the latter being the Army Reservist list.

He was kept on the "Z" reserve until 1954 when he was discharged from this list due to his age. Fortunately it appears he missed out on being called up for the Korean War in 1951.

Not sure about the other penciled numbers, most likely they refer to an Army form or letter, perhaps in his Army service record.

    Hope this helps a little.

    Regards,

    John

    No problem Bern,

The service record should reveal a lot more.
