Looking for Major William Millett (b: 1907 - d: 1980) who was was in Royal Army Medical Corps, based in Aldershot, Hampshire, United Kingdom.

Who do I contact for information about my Ancestor?

Where are his Service Records? and why do I not see them on ancestry.co.uk?

    Any advice?

    Thanks.

Welcome. Simple reason is because they won't be there! Not a lot around on WW2 servicemen because of the restrictions on putting personal information in the public domain regarding people who could be alive. May some limited information out there but not enough to determine his career.

Only way to start is to get hold of his official service records, you will need a death certificate.

Wonder if this could be him?

Oh! Tony, I was so surprised to see a speedy reply. Never thought anyone would comment...thank you!
I was surprised to read about records not being there on ancestry as it says clearly WW2 on the site. Perhaps because he is 'Deceased' they may consider submitting them to me if I write to the links outline on the gov.uk site?

"I wonder if this is him?" There are words 'Notices, 'All Notices, Gazette' on bottom of your reply. But when I press any of them it takes me to a blank page.
Do you know the name of the Gazette? I've been on Newspapers.com but they have many years for searching but no 1968 when he married.

I have a photo of my relative Major William and Millette and will upload it. Screenshot_20220830-041239_Chrome.jpg

Service records contain personal information and therefore are not available due to potential confidentiality issues. That is why there are certain rules and a death certificate required. Follow the link to read all about it.

There are some WW2 records in the public domain, but they won't be full service records.

ps I have seen the trees on Ancestry and there are quite a few photos.

    Thank you so much! CL1,
I don't know how you managed to find the grave for William Millett. Because I have. Even on Ancestry.co.uk since 2007 and never found in on findagrave.com or billionsofgraves.org
It was very emotional looking at it and in such a disarray isn't it.?

His wife Barbara is not sharing it either so goodness knows where she lies.

I think I have to 'create an account' perhaps with "The Gazette' as perhaps then I can access the 'Menu' and view photos. As it stands I see a tiny thumbnail top left of empty square. I 'download' to cloud and can see the newspaper clipping but its hard to read the tiny print.
Thank you for looking into William, both you and Tony56. Are you able to tell me because he was a 'Clinical Assistant' on his marriage to Barbara McDonagh on 31 Aug 1968 at Holy Trinity in Aldershot, whether this means he was not 'In Service' but worked helping Surgeons in a hospital in Aldershot Camp and what that Hospital would have been?
All pictures of him on ancestry.co.uk are from my tree. His father was in the Connaught Rangers and Lancashire Fusiliers. He was called John Bernard Millett (Born 1875 died 1939) and John Bernard's father was Colour Sergeant James Millett, (Born 1836 died ?1911?) So all the Millett family were Army men.
I am very proud of my ancestors and would like to think they can see me from heaven bringing their past to life when I see history and photos recorded on my ancestral tree. The only thing I've not participated in yet is DNA tests.
Have all my thanks for your kind attention to my post.
I'm new to this website so finding my way round it.

You do not need an account to look at the London Gazette. Go to their website The Gazette | Official Public Record

and put 313341 in the 'search the archives' box.
