Hi I'm looking for help deciphering my great grandfathers Service record. I see he served in Sicily but I am having trouble finding his regiment's history and battles that he may have been involved in. Any help is appreciated

If you don't have any problem in sharing his details, please post his name and Army Number so that other checks might be carried out for you. Good luck with your research
That's great thanks here are some more of his records. They're pretty big and I had trouble scanning some of them.
All I can help you with at the moment is the fact that on return to UK he was, at some stage, medically classified as C2 before being discharged as medically unfit for further service. The C indicates fit for Home Service only and from WW1 classification list, which was probably the same for WW2, the 2 indicated 'Free from serious organic disease. Able to walk 5 miles, see and hear for ordinary purposes.' Tim
Hi, The most helpful Army form is the B103. You can usually track a soldiers movements from it. There are often more than one B103 on a file. Did you get any from MOD? Steve
I have 70 med regiment diary as below if you are interested. Covers period up to August 43 while they were in Sicily. My fathers RASC Company serviced this regiment from September 43 and onto late 44 while they moved up the Italian mainland. Unfortunately I can't find any trace of the individual battery diaries. Middle East etc WO 169/9595 70 Regiment 1943 June- Dec. Royal Artillery: 70 Medium Regiment (RA Med Regt) | The National Archiv I have a feeling that I also posted it in the gallery but its not jumping out from a quick search
Hi, It might be worth phoning MOD Glasgow to see if they have missed sending the B103 forms to you. B103 will note all units and medical facilities he passed through - plus other information. Other members have reported MOD have found missing forms when asked to search again. They likely won't give you an immediate reply as they'll have to access the file to check the contents. On the other hand it may be that the B103 have become detached (culled/lost) from the file over the past 70 years. Good Luck Steve
