This photo of an RAF pilot is in a scrapbook belonging to a friend of mine. He looks familar to me having read various WW2 aviation histories over the years. Does anyone recognise him please? Many thanks Trevor

I was thinking it could be Group Captain Percy "Pick" Pickard, who was in the wartime documentary "Target for Tonight"?

He was a newcomer to the expanding RAF when he joined the service in 1936...started in Bomber Command with Harrows and lost his life at Amiens while flying Mosquitos with the 2nd TAF.In between he had stints with No 51 Squadron out of Dishforth, the SD Squadrons 138 and 161 out of Tempsford and No 61 Squadron out of Syerston.

A former No 51 Squadron Commander who dropped the paratroopers for the Bruneval Wurzburg EW radar raid while detached to Thruxton,he is remembered in the No 51 Squadron Memorial Garden at RAF Snaith (Pollington)
