Sgt Breeze was on patrol on the 8th November 1940 when his Spitfire came under fire from a German aircraft.

He was forced to land at RAF Martlesham Heath in Suffolk for repairs. After which he took off again, to return to RAF Hornchurch.

Unfortunately he had mechanical problems and was forced to crash-land at a poultry farm in Thundersley (Benfleet, Essex). But he walked away from the plane uninjured.

However, his good luck didn't last; in January 1945 (at the age of 30) he was killed while delivering a Spitfire in France. He was laid to rest in Calais Southern Cemetery.
