My son wants to write about his granddad being in Normandy in June 1944 for a school project. My Dad told me he arrived in Normandy 10 days after D Day but I can't remember if he said it was Gold Beach or Omaha. I have his service pay book which gives his number and RAMC but there is no mention of a regiment. Dad was a Nursing - orderly B II. The only other thing I can see in his book is M.D.U. 2 and AFB 200 D. Does anyone understand this and could help us. Thank You
Mobile Dental Unit? Or RAMC personnel nursing orderly attached within? http://www.ams-museum.org.uk/museum/history/radc-history/
My father served in a RAMC field dressing station, landing on Gold Beach on d day morning. You may wish to check out this link. It will give you all the units he served with and location. Found it very useful. https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records/overview
