My Grandad served in the REME in WW2 on his discharge documents it states that his rank was Cfm. I can’t find any rank with this abbreviation. Can anyone help.
Thanks, the Rank given if Cfm not Cfn, that is why I’m confused. Cfn is Craftsmen, CFM (All capitals) is Captain Fleet Manager but i can’t find Cfm on any military sites as a rank.
Was it writen or typed ? N is next to M on a keypad so maybe just a typo. Can you post an image of it ? As he was REME I would have said Craftsman too.
I concur, craftsman https://assets.publishing.service.g...e/227048/acronyms_and_abbreviations_dec08.pdf Lesley
Just an observation - regarding abbreviation for Guardsman Gdsn is plural, Gdsm the singular format. So perhaps this convention was also applied to Craftsman at some point.
When I think of Craftsman,my mind always carries me back to the REME craftsman who fought his last battle behind the lines with the SAS in Burgundy and whose resting place along with that of Roy Bradford,I have visited. Casualty
