My father Michael Joseph Flanagan served with the RAOC in Egypt. I have applied for hie record from Glasgow but they need more information which I don't have, ie his service number. I have some photographs taken in Syria, Tel-A-Viv, Gizera and one of a train which has written on the back "Cairo station to Mena. One photo shows my father with Lance Corporal's stripe. I remember him saying he ended the war as a Staff Sergeant. He played football for his unit and won the Cairo cup, we have the medal he received. One photo of his unit has the famous cricketer James Charles (Jim) Laker. Written on the back of another photo is "Group 3 (3 is in roman numerals) Vote 7 1943". Can anyone offer any help or advice. Regards Brian Flanagan
Hello and welcome. You don't need his service number to apply for records. You just need proof of death and put the full date of birth on the form. They found my fathers records from his date of birth. Lesley
