Just going through my older threads and updating them. The ones in black are still outstanding. If anyone can help with them please contact me. Thank you to all those who have given their time and effort to assist me in my project. Cheers Paul
Chessington st marys isn't far from a hotel I occasionally use so if I CSM remember to pack a camera next time I'm staying there I'll have a walk up. P
BILSTON CEMETERY, CHESSINGTON (ST. MARY) CHURCHYARD, BROOKWOOD CEMETERY are still wanted, if anyone can help please contact me. Cheers Paul
Brookwood is just up the road from my Dad's house, I should be over there in the next couple of weeks so will go and take a look then, if no one beats me to it.
South A word of warning if I may, Brookwood Cemetery (not the CWGC part) is privately owned and has/had a strict policy of no photography without permission/consent of the owners and on payment of a fee, with a condition that no photos be published on internet etc. i do know that there has been a lot of publicity about the cemetery with court battles over who rightly owns it etc.. have a google and see (makes interesting reading!!). I had the 'pleasure' of having quite a lengthy conversation with someone there over the issue of photography etc which led me to having a very long conversation with a lady at CWGC about taking photographs in their cemeteries. Regards Andy
Thanks for the warning Andy, I shall look in to it. I've not been able to get over there yet anyway as I'm poorly with Glandular Fever (just my luck, I was supposed to be running the London Marathon on Sunday!). Paul - I will look in to it and let you know whether I am able to get a photograph or not.
South, I don't want you to get into trouble getting this photo, if you can that's fine if not that's also fine. As far as I am concerned I don't think they should be allowed to not allow photography of CWGC Graves. There are 191 CWGC Graves that they are blocking access to, all to try and make some extra profit. Andy, what did CWGC have to say? Cheers Paul
Paul The problem with it being on private property is that they can dictate what is and what isn't allowed. Like I say It was a lengthy conversation with a man at first in the cemetery, lets just say that what he said/implied led me to contact CWGC about taking photographs in their cemeteries, esp Brookwood, as I had left without taking any (just to be on the safe side)........ 2 hour journey each way did not make for me being happy either!!! It may change as there was a change in ownership late last year unless they have gone to appeal! here is a link to an article about the latest (as far as i know( court hearing http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/s/2122559_brookwood_cemetery_family_shocked_at_ruling I believe the man I spoke to was called Erkin Gurney Regards Andy
