    Hi guys

I have received my relatives war record and it says he spent most of his time in the 15th Medium Regt , RA.

Is there anywhere I can find out his movements?? I have his medals and service pay book where it just states "far east" at one point. other than that I am clueless.

To start with he was posted to Costal Artillery 232

I can email a copy of his service record if it would help unveil anything else??

    Many Thanks

    Jim

Post the dates and units he served with from start to finish and I will post the units war diary ref's for you that are held at the National Archives.

These will give you a day to day update on what his unit(s) were doing and where they were doing it.

    Cheers
    Andy

Your relative was enlisted into 232 Coast Bty RA, then interposted to 438 coast Bty RA, then to the 548 Coast Regt RA, They all seem to be in England, but his record & paybook state CMF (Central Med Force)? He then went to the 15th Medium Regt RA.
I have all the movements & war-diaries of the 15th Medium Regt RA
From their formation in Jan 1943 to disbandment in Dec 1944.
They were aways a regt of the 2nd Canadian AGRA ( Army Group Royal Artillery).
I have written a book on 2Cdn AGRA.
    in which they feature thoughout.
When they were disbanded they were replaced by my father's regt, the 10th Medium, thats why i have studied them in detail.
After disbandment in Dec 44, your relative was posted to the 146 Medium Regt RA till 1946 Then to the 3rd Field Regt RA to demob.

That's brilliant rob ! Thanks for that .

I have looked up 232 coastal rgt, does the 232 refer to a certain place ? As 232 battery was in Suffolk I have found ??

I will look through my relatives medals and let you know which ones he got.

What date did he join the 15th med???

Thank you so much for your help

    Hi Jim
    232 Coast Bty - Plymouth/Minsmere,Suffolk
    438 Coast Bty - Southwold
    548 Coast Regt - Clacton
He joined the 15th Medium Regt RA at Clacton on 10th Feb 1943 just after they were formed in Jan 43.
The Bty & Regt numbers are just serial & do not donate a place or position.
