I would be pleased to have any additional information relating to James Hadden Farish who was born on the 1st August 1925. He joined the REME at Leicester on 15 Feb 1943 and served until 23 Jul 1946. I do not have his full service record, but I do have this Record of Service Card. His Service Number is 14422314
I’m afraid that nothing of any great significance can be gleaned from the document. It was given to soldiers on discharge as a form of invitation/proof of military service should they wish to enrol in their Regimental/Corps ex serviceman’s association (as well as for British Legion enrolment). From his service number he appears to have been conscripted into The General Service Corps for his initial training before being selected as suitable for service within REME. You will need to obtain his service records from MOD as very little, other than gallantry awards (London Gazette) and Casualty details (Findmypast) are in the public domain. You may be lucky and find mention of him in a local newspaper but if you want full chapter and. verse on his military service you will have to pay the £30 fee and apply to MOD. Good Luck. Steve
Paul, if you are interested in finding out the full facts of his service then, as suggested above, go for his records, however suggest you make sure that you have the correct name. Looking at the title of the document that you uploaded, the 1939 Register, birth, death and probate records it looks like Joseph Hadden Farish.
