The UK Army Roll of Honour says he was born in Suffolk and was living there when he joined up, But that is all I can find.

If Suffolk is correct, and I feel it could well be, then:

Father - Joseph William Edwards dob 17/10/1885
Mother - Alice Maud Mary Rand dob 6/10/1891
    Married - Q3 1913 Mutford, Suffolk

Other children - Frances Ivy Edwards 1913 - Joseph William Jellicoe Edwards dob 5/6/1915

    1921 & 1939 Living @ 4 Summer Road, Lowestoft

I believe this is Alice, civilian war dead:

Note that this is supposition however, for the princely sum of £1.50 I would get hold of Arthur's Will which may provide the proof you need, it may also disprove it!
Search probate records for documents and wills (England and Wales)
