    Cpl Lockwood died just as 8th Army had moved over the Metauro River to start the Gothic Line Battles on the 25th August and the 6th Armoured had been operating with 6th Sth African and 9th Armoured with the US 5th Army in the Lago Trasemino area towards Arrezo - then on to the mountains above Florence for the Winter as Infantry before returning to 8th Army for the final battles of the Argenta gap
