    The AWM RoH lists him as being part of 266 Light Aid Detachment and that he died of illness

    From what I can see so far 266LAD was attached to 57/60 Battalion at that time operating in New Guinea - LCPL McMahon must have been evacuated back to Australia but succumbed to whatever struck him down while over there
