Had a quick look at this one as I was wondering what he was doing near Tel El Kebir in 1947 - the short answer is that it was the site of a huge British Army Ordnance Depot until the early 1950s

Then I wondered why only his intials are shown, the London Gazette contains entries showing his full name -

SUPPLEMENT TO THE LONDON GAZETTE, 4 JULY, 1941

    ROYAL ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lts (Admin. Branch):

C.Q.M.S. Reginald Percy BARBER (183964), from Leicester R.

"Then I wondered why only his intials are shown, the London Gazette contains entries showing his full name"

So I thought I would ask the CWGC - their response follows:

Thank you for your email of 10 February. Please accept our apologies for the delay in reply, this is due to the high volume of enquiries we are currently receiving.

We are always able to add forenames to our records, but we require a copy of the casualty’s full birth certificate before being able to do so. Thank you for your reference to the Supplement to the London Gazette, however we do not accept this on its own as documentary evidence.
