In an age of dispiritingly few good news stories, I would like to share the experience of one of my father's comrades and his wife who both marched at the Cenotaph this morning.

Without betraying too many secrets, the combined ages of the couple is 180 years, one marching with the First Army, one with the FANYs.

After travelling by train and tube from Buckinghamshire they arrived at Charing Cross to be met by a yellow coated official who escorted them to a taxi and they were driven for free to the march area. It seems that the taxi drivers were driving all veterans to the marching area - quite difficult with so many closed streets, and after the march finished were driving them again for free to any main line train terminal.

Both would like to share what they described as a "fantastic" experience with as many people as possible and to thank the drivers for offering this service.
