I was thinking about the vehicles in 1940 which have an additional driver position especially for reversing. Came up with (I believe) the Laffly White 50, SdKfz 232 and Pantserwagen. Not sure about the SdKfz 231, 247 (which on Tanks Encyclopedia says it has a co-driver) or 263 (which has 'the same drive train' as the 232 but no co-driver listed). Any confirmation about the last three or any others that spring to mind?
Two more for your list! Panhard 178 - Wikipedia ADGZ - Wikipedia The Autoblinda 40 built in small numbers had a rear driving position too, a feature carried over into the more numerous AB41
The 231 and 263 also had rear drivers. Dug out my copy of German Heavy Reconaissance Vehicles (Sd.Kfz.231 (6), 232 (6) and 263 (6) by Horst Scheibert and it has some great layouts and profiles showing the rear postion including the following which gives a good look at the rear driver's location (sorry for the poor iphone shot )
Thanks for those info snippets, Orwell. I wondered how they managed it in the 6-rad. Time to wade through my library, methinks.
Looks like the SdKfz 247 ausf A did not have reverse steering capability http://axistanksworldwarii.devhub.com/img/upload/sdkfz_247_ausfa_zeichnung.jpg
