If I ask nicely, might someone do me a favour and look up the service records for this chap, please: Casualty Details | CWGC The twist is that I don't believe that CWGC has got the right name. He's on the Wisbech war memorial as Matthew Roffe - and you think they'd have got it right. There's also a typed copy of a letter from his platoon commander where he becomes 'Rolfe' but that's more likely to be a transcription error. The theory is that if his service record is consistent with the war memorial, that may be enough for CWGC to correct their records. Thanks in anticipation of any help. Andrew

Definitely Roofe. Interesting to see that CWGC has him as Roofe on main page but the attached grave registrations have him as Roffe, one of which has been altered to Roofe. I suspect someone has already pointed out an error to CWGC and they have altered it. From Army Register of Deaths: Tim
