    James,
His Seaman's Pouch is held at Kew in piece BT 372/694/16. I am away until this evening so will link to his CRS 10 later. His dob is shown as 20.2.1924.

    Hi Hugh

his medal card states 1926 as does the birth register.

I’m trying to Find out if he later served RN in Korea

There are 2 men with same name Born 1926 And 1928 The Korea number matches a man enlisted 1946 which would tie in with the 1928 birth but the group has ww2 medals which made me think he might have been the 1926 chap who joined MN first

I have applied to mod records using the 1928 birthdate if they say yes then I know the ww2 medals have been added if they say no to the death certificate then I will know he is the 1926 man

Would his MN records state if he later joined RN?

    thanks

    Hi James,
Here is the link to his CRS 10 should you be going down that route: BT 382/2019
    and the Pouch BT 372/694/16

Probably just a typo in the birth date on the Pouch - the Dis.A is the same so definitely the same guy. The record would only state if he joined the RN direct from MN service. I would suggest the answer would be no and his CRS 8 [Discharge] would show a discharge from the MN to shore.

    Thanks Hugh

I take it both files need to be visited in person at Kew?

BT 372 - because it is for a named person - can be requested online after staff go back to work. BT 382 however cannot as the file is held in block of up to 60 other names therefore would have to be obtained by visit or via a researcher.
