My father was Arthur Harvey service no. 14552502. He was a signalman who was attached to the U.S. army and landed at Omaha on D Day. Sadly he died 5 years ago. Apparently he was one of a small group of British signalman who was
Attached to Americans for the landing and he went with them through Cherbourg
    Peninsula and onto Paris.
When I was young we went to Normandy and visited a museum at Omaha where
He told the staff that he had landed with the Americans which surprised them.
He didn't,t speak much about the war and its only when it's too late that it becomes important.
Perhaps there are others who recall these Brits being attached to the US troops on D Day?
