I'm trying to find out about my uncle who was an ambulance driver involved in the battle for Arezzo in Italy in Jul 1944 but I don't have any more details about him. Am I right in assuming that as an ambulance driver, he would have been in the RAMC? If so, does anyone have any information concerning the RAMC in Arezzo? Would be ever so grateful for some help. Thanks.

IT's an old myth that the RAMC were the main Ambulance drivers in Italy especially as that task was invariably held by members of the RASC with their converted jeeps with four stetchers and a walking wounded sitting by the driver form the Regimental First Aid post back to the Field Ambulances and /or CCs - RAMC personnel took over at that point. So your assumption might be mis-placed.

I do believe I answered the last part of your question elswhere.
    Cheers

If you apply for his service records they will tell you what units he served with and when. Once you know that info you'll know what unit war diaries to look in.
