    Hi
After a long wait, my gt uncle John E Thompson's (killed at Walcheren 1/11/44) service record has arrived. Although most of the record is fairly straightforward compared to my previous experience with an army record, help outlining his service and clarifying a few things would be much appreciated.
    I've uploaded pictures here:

At the time of his death, he was part of a landing craft crew (And I'm aware that HMS COPRA meant a marine was part of a landing craft crew) and the craft he was killed aboard was LCS (L) 256, which there is another thread about here: LCS(L) gunboats
It looks like he was qualified to be the Lewis gunner aboard the boat?
Before he appears to be with copra he is listed as being part of the Portsmouth division (N Coy?) and his relatives believed he was killed at Dieppe, and never heard of him after Dieppe but I can't tell looking at the record if he was ever at Dieppe, on some sort of landing craft or as an infantryman.
Also, for most of his service he was part of "900 LCS(L) flotilla" but I'm unsure if this means he was part of the same craft (256) as he was killed aboard.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
