Patrick Kavanagh was my grandfather. He was married to Rose Kavanagh and had 5 daughters, one of whom is my mum. My mum’s uncle Jim came to visit our house in Wales while he was hom3 on a trip from America, not long before he passed away (he was in his nineties and he still sang all the old songs-a real character). I can only imagine that this is the Jim you are speaking writing about. My mum often retells stories of Andy and Jim and speaks of her aunt Julia. We must be related!

We have a plaque up here in town for I believe the chief engineer who had an OBE.

    Alan,
William Crossan was my mother-in-law's uncle. I am searching for information about him on her behalf. He was married to May Crossan and had two children, and the family is from Greenock. Please reply if you'd like to share any information.
    Regards,
    Leslie

S.S. Harpagon (5719t), Cargo Ship; Lost after being attacked by U109 in the Atlantic, about 150 miles NNE of Bermuda [Sunk on 20th, but casualties listed by CWGC on 19th April 1942]

The ship was lost with thirty-five crew and six gunners, including your relative. Eight survivors were picked up by Argentine ship Rio Diamante.

The only information I have on AB Crossan, is that he was one of four RN gunners lost in the sinking and is listed on the Chatham RN Memorial
