Hello, please excuse my English. Having only vague notions of your language, I used a translation software with the risk of error that entails.

I am currently making a personal briefing on the day of July 20, 1944. This is the day that Captain Bradford, Sergeant Chalky White as the forward gunner, Maggie McGinn behind the wheel and Private William Henri Devine. Specialist mechanic and gunner had a collision with a German column.

I saw on the website "World War II Resistance in France" that Peter Marschall had the privilege to know Sergeant Chalky Withe in the late 1980s.

J’ai vu sur le site internet « World War II resistance in France » que Peter Marschall avait eu le privilège de connaître le sergent Chalky Withe à la fin des années 1980.

But I could not reach him. Do you know in which cemetery of the resistance the ashes of Sergeant Chalky White were dispersed? Do you have a picture of Private Devine? What happened to Maggie McGin?

I enclose a copy of this document with this message. It is unfortunately written in French. I hope you find a way to read it.

I would like to complete it a little bit.
J’aimerais le compléter un petit peu.

Would you please me if you would kindly give me some of your memories?
Vous me feriez grand plaisir si vous acceptiez de bien vouloir me livrer quelques uns de vos souvenirs.

Hoping for an answer from you, please accept my respectful greetings.

There is extensive debate on the SAS Houndsworth operation in the Morvan from June to September 1944 and those involved....the link leads to a further link for another thread.

Chalky White's grandson laid his Grandfather's ashes in the Maquis Bernard cemetery near to the hamlet of Savelot in the Bois de Montsauche....his contribution to the threads can be found on one link.
