Did anyone else watch this? Surprised nobody has posted about it yet.

I thought it was rather good.
I already knew about the British LCAs landing Second Rangers at Omaha, and knew a bit about ballistics in water but I thought much of the other information was very interesting. Certainly dispelled a few myths and presented an interesting take on others.

Mike. Is that the actual title of the programme? If so, I'll keep a look out for it although it might be a year or two before it gets here.:D

Pilot to passengers on landing in Auckland.
"Ladies and Gentlemen. We have just landed in New Zealand. Please put back your watches 40 years."

Cheers Mike. The link worked fine and if it's on Discovery there's a good chance I'll see it before I fall off the perch!

At first I thought it was going to be a hatchet job on the film. To be honest most people watching the film probably don't care if it was the wrong type of landing craft. The film never claimed to be a true account & like all films things get changed from the reality. However, as someone who has read up about D-Day & the Battle of Normandy, I did find it interesting. I had guessed, largely by having read about it, that the "twist" was that the brother shot down over Burma had survived but it was good to see this expanded upon. Also how Fritz heard his brothers were dead & his return, against his wishes, to the U.S. In the end the programme was a sympathetic view of the film.

I've just watched it via the link - Thanks Peter!

I enjoyed it. A bit repetitive at times, but that's what I've come to expect from TV.
