    Hi,

I understand from a post on GWF that the Scots Guards pre 1939 (1799/1939) Enlistment/Attestation Registers are now available on Find My Past (FMP).

I haven't looked yet but I expect to find they will be similar in format/content to the already available RA Enlistment/Attestation Registers on FMP.

    Hi,

I had my first look at these records on FMP this morning and was disappointed.

The books have about 10 columns across the page per man for various details to be recorded - DOB, POB, Place of enlistment, transfers, marriage date, NOK and children etc.

The records up until the late 1920's are reasonably well completed and updated throughout a mans service but by the early 1930's all that is usually recorded is full name, date of enlistment and terms and then date of transfer to Class Z Reserve. Date of transfer to another regiment is noted as is discharge to commission if appropriate.

The enlistment books finish around mid 1937 at about army number 2695700. I think they just came to the end of the book.

They are searchable by both name and army service number and county of birth - where it is recorded.
