After meeting Murray Walker last night I thought I'd try & get the Royal Scots Greys history to see if he's mentioned in it.
I've just had a shock at the price of it on abebook.
    Cheapest 600 quid, up to 1000 !
    eeek!

    Anyone have a copy ?

I've got Delaforce's book Monty's Marauders & have an outline at what they did.
I suppose it'd be cheaper to get someone to copy the war diaries at Kew to see if Murray Walker is mentioned in those.

Thank God they never served in France with the BEF - I'd probably never pay that for a BEF related book

Did he have a comission with them?

WO 169/215 Royal Scots Greys (2 Dragoons)1939 Sept.- 1940 Dec.
WO 169/1381 Royal Scots Greys (2 Dragoons)1941 Jan.- Dec.
WO 169/4480 Royal Scots Greys (2 Dragoons)1942 Jan.- Dec.
    WO 169/9314 Royal Scots Greys (2 Dragoons)1943 Jan.-Dec.
WO 170/821 Royal Scots Greys (2 Dragoons)1944 Jan.
WO 171/842 Royal Scots Greys (2 Dragoons)1944 Feb.- Dec.
WO 171/4683 Royal Scots Greys (2 Dragoons)1945 Jan.- Dec.

Ps as one off I would guarentee doing all of the above diaries for under £600 regardless of thickness :D

Yes, joined them in October 44 in Holland as a 2nd Lt.
He finished the war in Wismar , meeting up with the Soviets.
    His final rank was Capt.
After the Royal Scots Greys he was posted to an armd training camp near Belsen as Technical Adjutant .

He'll definately get a mention then, if only in the Field Returns.

    Careful.
Written by Carver, so, in my opinion, some chance of being unreadable.
Not unlike Manstein, I find his books confirm that being a great soldier does not necessarily mean you'll be a great writer...

    Owen.

Try the Prince Consort's Library in Aldershot if you are looking to borrow it.
