    Hi everyone

I've copied this from the introduction section in case anyone who might be able to help me has missed it...

I wrote some months ago seeking information about my Grandfathers service in the war and its immediate aftermath with the RAMC and I was advised that I really needed to get hold of his service record.

Some 14 weeks (!) after applying for the records they finally arrived this morning and I hope some of the very knowledgeable amongst you may be able to help me trace his movements. The part of the record which details overseas service states the following:

    14502420 Private John Ball

Posted to 129 Field Ambulance - Embarked UK to NWE 17/6/1944 until 29/1/1945

    Posted to 129 Field Ambulance - 24 CCS NWE 29/1/1945 until 12/2/1945

    Posted to 53 RHU - NWE 12/2/1945 until 18/2/1945

    Posted to 31 RHU - NWE 18/2/1945 until 24/2/1945

Posted to 129 Field Ambulance - NWE 24/2/1945 until disembarked to UK 20/10/1945

After a short spell back in the UK he was then posted again...

    Disembarked M.E.F 31/12/1945

Posted to GHQ MS and BS - M.E.F 5/1/1946

    Posted to 1 M.C.C Sidi Bishr 24/6/1946

embarked to UK and released 26/6/1946

I hope this is enough information for someone to be able to help me trace his movements. There are a lot more abbreviations on the record and If anyone needs anymore information then please feel free to contact me.

    Very best wishes and thanks

    Jonathan

    Hi Jonathan

    A suggestion ?

Army records scan pretty well as can be seen by one of my own sheets below.
Consider posting here the sheets on which you need clarification.

In addition, if you intend making copies for other members of your family it's worthwhile scanning and saving them as jpgs on your PC

    Good luck !

    Ron

Jonathan, welcome aboard, you might want to put RAMC in the thread title, so that members with an RAMC background will spot it.
