In my fathers Service records after he returned from Cairo and immediately before he was demobbed, he spent some time in Scotland. It looks like he was posted to the Inverness area but he never mentioned it or wrote down what he did there. My mum thought it was related to a polish camp as I know there were many in that area but all the records I have found said they weren't there around the dates stated on his Service record. There was also mention of wood logging and having to 'stick labels on rail transport a few times a week'. I have so far been unable to progress this further (trying to trace '11 Per Sect' via the NA) and wondered whether anyone in the community could provide some insight into this. I have pasted the handwritten section from his records below. He was there until 15th May 1947.
Hi, Could it be perhaps 11 For(estry) Section of a Forestry Corps unit bearing in mind mention of logging activities? Steve
HI Steve, Thanks for responding. I suppose it could be that but it looked like 'Per' to me. I will try searching for the Forestry Section and see if anything pops up. I now recall my Mum saying he went to 'Boat of Garten' although that location is not specifically stated on his file. It would make more sense. Thanks again, Richard
What Regiment or Corps was he in? The Royal Army Service Corps (RASC) had Petrol Sections and Personnel Sections. Richard
