Hi Gaz - first off, do you have his full name? Is his first name spelt correctly? Not many named Neville with the single L

Next, how do you know he was RSigs, in XXX Corps and served in NA, Italy and Europe?? It would help us to help you if you added your sources of info to this thread so we could move forward from there.

If you have his pay book, or letters sent to/from him, or photos (with writing on the back), or his medals - then please scan / photograph them and add them here so we can look for further clues.

Do you have his service number? That can sometimes lead to further discoveries.

We are all keen to help and you are doing the right thing by applying for his service records but the more info we have the more we can achieve.

    regards and good luck

    Dave

    morning all

sorry about the lack of details, spoke to my mother and found a few more details:

Sgt Neville Vyvian Purdy, army no 2390074, born 1922 however died in 1992.
I only met him about 3 - 4 times before he died so i dont realy know much about him only what my mother has told me.

I have attached a photo of him, my mother still has his uniform which has the Royal Signals TRF and the shoulder titles with the XXX Corps flash (boar in a white circle).

My mother has his original medals which are 1939 - 1945 Star, Africa Star (8th Army), Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal and the War Medal 1939 - 1945, however in the pic i have of him, he isnt wearing the ribbons the the last two which leads me to believe that the pic was taken before they were issued to him.

He also has a XXX Corps Medallion, on the reverse it says Normandy, Mount Pincon.

I've attached a pic of him in the hope that someone may also have a picture with him in there.

Hope this is a little more info.

    Thank you for your help

    Gaz
