This is truly inspirational, a complete restoration of an M4A3E8 in pictures. Beware it is a biggie, running to 12 pages and about 800 photos. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=417090
Absolutely amazing mate. $800,000. Right shall we start a WW2talk kitty? Who gets to keep it first? lol.
Bod, that really is spooky, both of us posting that site 3 minutes apart with no consultation... you don't think we're getting a little... obsessed.
is this the so called jumbo sherman.lee. No mate. The Jumbo was an up-armoured 75mm tank usually with VVSS. An M4A3E2
I like the way they used that Sherman to flatten houses to buid a Postal facility. "Going Postal" big time.
fantastic. the body looks in amazingly good condition, the gearbox looks great inside. very lucky. Where do you get all the little fittings that are missing ammo lockers and brackets and million other things missing from inside??
More restoration tales from 'Fighting Iron': Military Vehicle Restoration Group dedicated to preserving the past A realistic perspective: Junk Halftracks The work involved is tremendous, but the results well worthwhile. I have a mate who's looking into buying a T34. Not sure he really know's what's involved, that Stuart looks like hard enough work to me...
Love these pictures by White Inc of their Halftracks in various stages of construction: WW2 White Photo's
I forgot to mention the scan of the Autocar bit of bumph too: WW2 AutoCar Book Can't quite work out if it's postwar.
I have a National Geographic from November 1946 and the typesetting is very reminsicent of that manual VP.
Giving this one a bump. The pictures aren't appearing in the link anymore, at least for me. Anyone have a better link?
