Sicily after 65 years

    My father fought in Sicily with 231st Malta brigade, Ive never been there and would love to follow the brigades route. Will there be any 80th Anniversary celebrations in 2023 which would seem a great time to go.

    Which battalion of 231 Malta Brigade was he in?

    He was in the 1st Dorsetshire regiment.

    Hi Chrisd,
    I read your post with some interest, as I have started to research my Grandfather and he was also in MNBDO 2. He was part of a coastal artillery unit, after transferring from L&M. I have listed below some of the information on my Grandfathers service. I would love to understand where you go to with your research as I am still trying to fill some holes with more detailed information.

    MNBDO 2

    He joined the 2nd Landing and Maintenance Company from RMTTD from where he was temporarily attached to the Coastal Artillery Regiment 4 May 1942.

    On 1 August 1942 he was taken on to the strength of the Coastal Artillery Regt and therefore no longer temporarily attached.

    22 Jun 43 to No 6 General Hospital Quassassin (Egypt) during which he was on the temporary books of the MNBDO 2nd Echelon.

    2 Aug 43 – Released from 6 Gen Hosp to CA Regt at 152 Transit Camp, Abbassia, Egypt, where he spent nearly 2 weeks. He was now a

    22 Sep 43 joins HQ Company CA Regt from 2nd Echelon

    He was then in Sicily

    31 Dec 42 – 33 Gen Hospital Syracuse Sicily

    21 Jun 44 – Released from 33 Gen Hosp
