    Grim numbers.

    "Out of over 13,000 [Soviet] POWs who were brought to Birkenau, only 92 were alive on January 17, 1945 when the last roll call was taken."

    That's a 0.7% survival rate. I wonder how many of these then survived the gulags for having dared to surrender?
