Jan7 Many thanks for the link. It must be 70 odd years since I heard the full version of Bandiera Rossa and I am reminded that at the time, one of the members of my boy's club told his mother he was off to a weekend camp but actually made his way to Spain to fight on the communist side. Regards Ron

Sadly, like most of my contempories of that time, he is now no longer around. I created a blog: Cambridge and Bethnal Green Old Boys Club to honour the club and we still attend an annual re-union. The resident folk-singer in an Edinburgh pub I used to frequent years ago always sang a song called (I think) viva la cinta Brigada! ( or something remarkably close to that spelling!).
There's a reenactment group who's sole activity at shows seems to be driving around in a period truck covered in Spanish Civil War slogans, waving red & republican flags while bellowing out these songs...
