Tank Deliveries to North Africa

    Did you get the WS8x details from Kew, or your own sources?

    My next question would have been what type of Cruisers were the 20 on board convoy WS9?

    Does anyone know when the HQ of the 2nd Armoured Division arrived in North Africa?

    Hello.
    From "The Winston Specials: Troopships Via the Cape 1940-1943" by Archie Munro

    Convoy WS 4A (Arrive Suez December 22, 1940):
    HQ of 3 Armoured Brigade, with 3 and 5 Battalions The Royal Tank Regiment
    Signals, Field Park and Recovery Sections of 3 Armoured Brigade.
    2 Regiment Royal Horse Artillery from 1 Support Group
    advance parties from Royal Artillery units, the King's Dragoon Guards and 1 Battalion Tower Hamlets Rifles, all of 1
    Armoured Brigade and 2 Armoured Division HQ, which were to follow in WS 4B, plus
    210 Australian officers and men as advance parties from units which also were to follow in WS 4B.

    Convoy WS 4B (Arrive Suez December 28, 1940):
    18 Australian Brigade
    miscellaneous British Units
    HQ of 2 Armoured Division and 1 Armoured Brigade and 2 Support Group
    1 Bn The Rangers
    1 Bn Tower Hamlet Rifles
    4 Hussars
    1 Kings Dragoon Guards

    I made a typo and edited the earlier post from "3 and 4 Battalions" to "3 and 5 Battalions The Royal Tank Regiment"
