Hello new to this but hopefully somebody maybe able to help. Long post I am afraid. Researching a Naval Commander's war service. I have his pre- war service records. In 1938 he was mobilised and was at HMS Osprey. Then sometime after 1941 he was in his own words in a letter ," moving about a great deal " the address on this letter was "T" LCT Squadron c/o GPO London. In Nov. 1944 he was Gazetted, receiving the DSC (awarded to officers in recognition of an act or acts of exemplary gallantry during active operations against the enemy at sea). So I am assuming he was associated with "T" TLC. and played an active part most likely on D Day. Was "T" part of a flotiller destined for which beach and what was the role etc. timing etc ? The commander was Daniel Harvey Rainier from a naval family - plenty on Google but I just can't locate any info re "T" squadron.
Thanks to anybody who can help.

This is a reference to T Squadron, made up of 265 and 266 LCI(L) Flotillas, and 39 and 48 LCT Flotillas. Commander Rainer was the squadron commander. T Squadron was part of Force S1, the portion of Force S tasked with landing the reserve brigade on Sword Beach on D-Day.

Hello Stephen Thanks for your prompt response to my question and the attached report by Cmdr. Rainier. I may well asked more questions but at the moment your reply is sufficient. Thanks again.
