Please can anyone advise me of where to visit in this region with connections to WW2. I am going to pay my respects to the fallen at the Commonwealth War Cemetery near Bari. I also have planned to visit the memorial to the parachute regiment at the Free Church in Taranto. Would like any information about any museums or collections worth visiting. I have photos of my Grandfather in Brindisi in 1944.

Perhaps it might be worth posting some details of your grandfather - name, number, regiment, battalion etc - that way you may get some suggestions on sites specific to his campaign. Looking at the tags was he paras, Lincolnshire or RWKs?

thanks Tony. My Grandad served in the 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment but was WIA in Tunisia March 1943 & was then returned to the Royal West Kent Regiment going up through Italy. My interest in the 6th Lincolnshire was through my neighbour who sadly passed away at 92yrs this year, he was WIA in the fighting in Southern Italy & was in the hospitals in the Bari area. There are war graves of the 6th Lincolns at the Bari CWGC cemetery.
