Telephone exchange near Merville Battery.

In one set of orders that I have seen it actually says cut any communication cables that you come across but do not destroy the junction boxes.

The 9 Para Intelligence Summary from the WD mentions both telephone and power lines. Nothing however about telephone exchanges or lines in the Battery area.

Finding out the location of Yvonne family residence might help settle a few questions. From other postcards showing the post office near the Saint Germain Church in Merville it appears it was the actual residence of the post master. For example here is one of the building in 1951 with flower pots on the window ledges and clothes blowing in the breeze in the back garden.



Of course it could be a curious coincidence with no actual connection to the Yvonne family and something I am wrongly fixated upon ...
