Perhaps I should just mention that I don't torture animals and furthermore do everything possible to avoid falling out with my neighbours (and perhaps that's part of the problem - cat owners are just so damned sensitive !). The worst that visiting felines will receive from me is a cup of water as they sqaut.
My girlfriends mate text her last night to say that her cat Molly had brought her three presents back. A beefburger, a Moth and and a dead bird with NO HEAD!!!! When I lived in a rural area I was used to find on the doormat the occasional dead mouse or part of it, or some locust bits, so I found the 'cleansing' my cats were doing to be rather beneficial, actually!
View attachment 34397 The 'Cat thread' started really by accident when I had found out how I could post a photo. I really had no idea that there were so many cat lovers out there and indeed so many who hate them. I do understand the many arguments against cats but don't necessary agree with all of them, in fact some are a little ridiculous. I find comments like 'better a prisoner than dead' quite bizarre! Do you really believe that Cannuck? Apart from the killing of small wildlife every point you have made can also be applied to dogs, of which there are far more in animal shelters than cats. I would also say that I am extremely saddened every time one of my cats kills a bird or small mammal but there are many things on this planet we have to live with and this is one of them. fortunately I do save literally 'from the jaws of death' many mice and birds which gives me a great sense of satisfaction. As for the life span, perhaps there is something in the air in Canada that affects cats but here in Europe it is not exceptional for cats to live 15-20 years. I have had countless free roaming cats who have lived the whole range from 12 -20 years. I could argue the case for cats but it would be futile, you love them, hate them or are indifferent. It just seems a shame that in hating them some people would visit harm upon them when in fact it's not the fault of the cat. I love any animal, many drive me crackers and others I most definitely would not have as a pet, a dog for example, but all animals are wonderful. The vitriol aimed at cats is quite unique. I really have no idea why this should be so other than to say that it has been like that throughout history where they have been sacrificed in the most horrible of ways and always seen as some sort of 'devil' creature. Perhaps it's this ancient and stupid fear that keeps resurfacing in people, who knows! Nowt so queer as folk!!!! Now, isn't this a lovely photo of 'Nutmeg'? C'mon Cannuck, let loose on the rufty tufty character personna! Great photo Fireman! Ever find that you get an odd taste to your baguettes? Seriously, this forum is meant for open debate and sorry, I am simply not a cat fan and as mentioned, even less enthused about irresponsible owners. Having said that, the words 'hate' and 'vitriol' are too strong and don't apply here. I've never harmed a cat and don't intend to. I simply have an alternative opinion. Interestingly, I drove 400 km today, to and from a family gathering with a with a cemetary photo stop for Spidge thrown in. I can't begin to tell you how many 'road kill' cats we saw along the highways. Maybe it's a bigger problem on this side of the pond or Euro cats have learned to look both ways.

Here's something for the dog people: who needs a missile? Awesome! I don't think my two slightly overweight puppy dogs could manage that, but I have a cat that could!

For God's sakes Owen, don't go provoking the cat people again! Mercifully, I thought we were finally done with this thread. Now they'll run for days over this gay cat from Swindon.
Worry not, Canuck, some people may want to divert attention from members of their profession as in the news today :curtsey:

This pink panther thing was luckily rather harmless although I didn't like the 'thrown over the fence' bit. I had already adopted two cats thrown over MY fence in separate occasions and I'd like to have had a talk with whoever did that. Concerning cruelty to animals, perhaps you'd be interested in this.

Truly scary isn't it. There is no shortage, world wide, of those whack jobs (I think that may be the Canadian equivilent to Wanker).
Update on pink cat. BBC News - Owner of pink cat used 'harmless food dye' The owner of a pink cat found in a Swindon garden has made a plea for the return of her pet. Natasha Gregory said she bathed the white cat with "harmless" food dye because pink was her favourite colour.
BBC News - Swindon pink cat owner will get pet back An RSPCA spokeswoman said the organisation would visit Miss Gregory to give her advice on animal care. She added: "Following the visit, as no offence has been committed and as a vet has confirmed the cat is in good health, she will be returned to her owner." She said the dye would have to grow out.
What about the thrown over the fence bit? It was assumed it was thrown over fence. Obviously it wasn't it climbed over itself. Cats can do that you know.
