If there is a total shortage of toilet paper an electric toothbrush can be very useful for cleaning those hard to reach areas. The trick is not to use your own.

La vie de Gargantua et de Pantagruel by Rabelais contains a long somewhat scatological dissertation on various options for wiping one's bum. Get a copy even if none appeal it's a very thick work with many pages.

Friday's Crossing During The Depression: Sears Roebuck Catalog

For us, buying from the Sears Catalog through the mail was a great convenience. It required no travel, and the merchandise arrived at our mailbox. We also used the information as a gauge of what a fair price should be for both new and used items. And thanks to the outhouse, even and old catalog was useful.

I'm buying futures for those washable incontinence knickers as they could be just the thing if toilet paper runs out.

If you are desperate, you can still buy vintage IZAl toilet paper on eBay. That was the product from hell. You got one sheet from the dispenser and ended up emptying the box on the wall. It did not absorb your by product at all.

I raided my fishing bag and removed the hand Sanitising gel and toilet rolls.:D

    Polio Vaccine Discovered
    Witness History

American scientists announced they had discovered an effective vaccine against polio in April 1955. It would save millions of children from disability and death. The doctor who led the research was Jonas Salk. Hear from his son Peter and a nurse who worked with him.

My late wife's step father went down with polio the same week that the vaccine became available to adults on the NHS. He spent the rest the rest of his life in a wheelchair. He was somewhat bitter

Thought a gel was something that upper class twits were used to
"Oh we have a gel who looks after the horses" "Get one of the gels from the ops room to do that" "She's a damn game gel" etc

Perhaps we are stockpiling the wrong things. I do not have a book buying problem (honestly I do not) but I am always running out of space to put them. Yesterday encouraged by my success with toilet rolls I went to the nearest furniture shop to buy more bookcases. Within ten minutes I had what I wanted and by the time I reached home the delivery van was waiting outside. I am now filling it with the overflow of books which mysteriously appear from time to time.

A Lesson. Forget toilet rolls. Buy bookcases.

I've run out of wall space that doesn't have a window, door, radiator or light switch and against which I can stand a bookcase

One of my oldest Cousins got polio and did not survive beyond the age of 16. His Younger Sister contracted Meningitus and lives in a care home in her early 60's. Life can be rather cruel me thinks.

My Aunt & Uncle of the affected children were our favourites and the kindest of all my Mum's 5 other siblings.

    I have a vision of a book/film a very short one

"It started out as a flu type thing which was a 30 second item on the news channel little did we know in the spring of 2020 the earth would change forever.
The issue with global warming was solved in one fell swoop when the corona virus struck wiping out 98% of the earths population. The issue with plastic was also solved.Wild animals sighed with relief.
Ah I hear you ask how did you survive ?
Well the simple answer is books and general collectables .We were all told to self isolate and a stroke of luck the old WW2 books musty and well worn with a coating of many years of foreign bodies stacked on the shelves and multiple piles around the house acted as an antibody to the virus.
So the musty smell so long complained about turned out to be a life saver.

Now where dd I see our next worry oh yes it was on the news about an asteroid
