In Germany we know a good encouragement in such a situation:
Qualität setzt sich immer durch = Quality always prevails!
    Best wishes!

This is how far we went in Holland by the 1940s ... until we were 'liberated' by the Canadians o_O

    Canadian Summer.jpg
the summer of 1945 is remembered over here as the Canadian Summer :moose: ... I've been told that the male part of the population in Holland was very happy the Canadians left soon after that :bye:

No quarantine here in the strict sense, Ron, but we're under an advisory which I've observed and I feel for you. Perhaps it's a bit like Confined to Barracks ad infinitum.

Rita was a beautiful and charming woman and something of a sad case. She was actually part Mexican-American, something she worked hard to conceal. Her relations with men were not happy. She was highly insecure and neurotic; Orson Welles loved her dearly--she was the love of his life--but neither he nor any other man could keep her happy for very long. She came down with early-onset dementia and suffered terribly until her death.

It was also a very good time to be an obstetrician.

    Fantastic.
Baton Rouge is only a 20 hour drive so I only need one days notice. I'll bring the beer.

Yes, I’ve read extensively about her. She was at the top of the world but you’re very correct, she couldn’t find total happiness in her personal life.

If you haven’t watched her in the movie “Gilda” you need to. It was ahead of its time for a 1946 flick. Rita probably was at her best then.

Keep us posted in your job status. We’re all affected one way or another in this silly business. At least when we “come here,” we can all be supportive of each other. At least forumly you know.

Let’s see....bring some Labatts, Molson Canadian, Moosehead, Kokanee....all good. I feel a good face down in the gutter weekend coming. Might have to go to the French Quarter for a few days too.

Throughout the Netherlands, pubs, restaurants and beach bars today punctually reopened at 12:00. Museums, cinemas and some theaters also welcome the public again.

Yesss ... today I went for a bicycle ride in brilliant spring weather along the IJssel River to the small hanseatic town of Doesburg (about 25 km to the northeast of Arnhem). This small medieval town, liberated on 15 April 1945 by the Canadians, will feature in a thread I am planning to launch on WW2Talk soon.
