Hello! I just stumbled on this thread while doing some research on the Schan family. Just so happens that Leo Schans Grandson is my neighbor. I was chatting with him yesterday and he asked if I could find out more about him. He will be happy to know that others out there are thinking of Leo too.
hello all, I just came across this forum and thought i'd add a bit. Leo Schan was my Geat Grandfather through his then wife the late vietta Vaselenak in the Lethbridge AB area. Their son Duane schan my late grandfather, who's eldest son Darren is my father. I am a Corporal with with 20th Independant Field Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery. Still here in Lethbridge Leo's name along with his brothers and sister Dorthy's names and some records are here at the ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION GENERAL STEWARTS BRANCH #4. here are a couple links pertaining to Leo. The Canadian Military Engineers Association has collected information on Leo Schan and his family. Three brothers served as Sappers, one in the Armoured Corps, one in the Artillery and one in the Infantry. A sister also served in the Canadian Women's Army Corps.
