    and remove all that patina!!, certainly not, maybe a brush to remove surface dust & rust and then perhaps some wax to protect the surface. Maybe ask at the local auction house or antique shop

    That is a lovely find Vespa. Interesting to note that it refers to the war as the 'European War' when it was already more than that.
